CROC'S SWIM-A-THON IS THIS SATURDAY AT 9AM!
June 25th
Good morning Crocs!
Just a quick reminder that the CROC'S SWIM-A-THON IS THIS SATURDAY! This is a super fun event and we hope you will be able to join us! More info is in the FAQs below but please email Sam Harvell ([email protected]) if you have any questions.
Please RSVP ASAP if you plan to join so we know how many swimmers are coming. Thank you!
FAQs:
- What is Swim-a-thon?: The AshCreek Crocs Swim-a-thon is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Participating Crocs swimmers secure pledges or flat donations, meet at the pool, and swim as many laps as they can in one hour to raise money for both our team and a great cause.
- Why is Swim-a-thon important? In addition to raising money to help our swimmers and our team, every year we choose a local organization or family to donate a portion of our proceeds. This year we have chosen Comfort Zone Camp, the first-ever nonprofit bereavement camp for kids in the US that was started here in Virginia.
- When is it? Saturday, June 27th from 9-10am
- Where is it? AshCreek Pool
- How do I sign up? You can RSVP on the Swimtopia site. Find Swim-a-thon on the calendar and click the green "? RSVP" box to tell us you plan to attend!
- How do I collect pledges? You can ask friends, family, and neighbors to sponsor you with either a flat donation or a set amount per lap you swim. We'll count your laps at the Swim-a-thon and give you your total at the end so you can collect your donations. If you are calling or texting you could say something like: “Hi, this is (your name). I am on the AshCreek Crocs swim team and am participating in a swim-a-thon on June 20th. Would you be willing to sponsor me? My goal is to swim (goal #) laps during the event to help raise money for my team and the Comfort Zone Camp. You can pledge per lap or a flat amount. I really appreciate your support!”
- How do I submit my donation? Donations can be in the form of cash, a check made out to AshCreek Swim Club, or sent to the AshCreek Swim Team Venmo (see QR code on the flyer). If you Venmo, please make sure to include your child's name in the memo. All donations must be submitted by July 3rd so we can finalize prizes.
- Do swimmers have to swim the entire time? No! This is all for fun and swimmers can swim as much or as little as they want.
- Do swimmers have to stay the whole time? Also no! This is all for fun and swimmers can stay as long (or short) as they'd like.
- Can my child swim if they are not on the Crocs swim team? Unfortunately not - this event is exclusively for swim team members. If your child is interested, please consider joining the swim team next year!
- Will there be food? Yes! We will have watermelon and donuts for all swimmers.
- Are there prizes? Yes! We have collected some great prize donations that will be awarded to the swimmer that swims the most laps in each age group. In addition, the swimmer who raises the most money in each age group gets to PIE A COACH AT THE END OF YEAR BANQUET!
- If I win a prize, when will I get it? Prizes will be awarded at the End of Season Banquet on July 12th. Pie the coach opportunities will happen then too.
- Can I still come if I didn't sign up on Swimtopia? Yes of course!
- Can I support the cause even if we can't attend the Swim-a-thon? Yes! Any and all donations are accepted and much appreciated.
- How can I volunteer to help? We will need 10-12 parents or older siblings to help count laps. We can't start swimming until we have 2 counters in each lane so please come prepared to help. If you are interested, please just let one of us know at the beginning of the event. Thank you!
We also want to give a HUGE shout out to all the organizations who have donated prizes including:
- Kona Ice
- Mission Laser RVA
- Richmond Kickers
- Sky Zone
- Top Golf
- Lewis Ginter
Thanks and GO CROCS!
